Though not a powerful storm, five people were killed - partly due to rough surf around the Florida coast.13 August 2007:Hurricane Dean became the first major hurricane of the 2007 Atlantic season, reaching category 5 by the time it made landfall in Mexico. The Storm's central pressure of 906Mb was the 9th lowest on record for an Atlantic hurricane and the 3rd lowest at landfall. Only the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane and Hurricane Gilbert in 1988 were lower. Dean is also the first cat 5 storm to make landfall since Andrew in 1992.
